Where Beauty Gets it Wrong
Why I created an UnSchool.
It seems self-evident that radiance isn't applied, injected, or cut out of you.
Still, according to Grandview Research, the dermal filler market alone reached 3.8 billion USD in 2020.
This doesn't even account for Botox Cosmetic or the billions of dollars in laser treatments and facial products that are solely designed to plump the skin by the mechanism of inflammation.
This obsession with plumping the skin by force stems from a deeply-held, cultural belief that we revitalize the skin by burning and controlling it.
Newsflash: IT'S NOT TRUE, and it DOES NOT WORK.
Suppose it were true that thinning and injecting the skin gives women a radiant glow... Why then does the plastic surgery market continue to grow?
Why do we keep buying products that don't give us healthy, radiant, beautiful skin?
Yes, the holistic skincare industry is gaining a foothold, and "clean" products have become mainstream, even at Target.
Yet, there continues to be a massive disconnect with education, community, and support for the consumer to put the power of radiance back in her own hands.
Misinformation and consumerism are the literal smoke and mirrors of the internet.
Even the holistic beauty industry tends to get it wrong. Putting all of the emphasis on single note ingredients, trendy facial tools, and professional treatments, leaving out the most essential component- the individual's skill set and self-image at home.
While there are some outliers to this observation; across the board, I see an underwhelming amount of attention put on supporting women to become their own beauty expert.
If you've ever looked in the mirror and felt dismayed with your reflection, the first place to start looking and feeling different, starts at home.
After 15 years in the industry of beauty and skin and working with thousands of women facing the same challenges, I decided there must be a better way.
It will help you un-learn unsupportive beauty myths and beliefs and un-learn everything that doesn't contribute to your mind, body, soul and skin.
This experience will give you super powers that will save you time, money and radically increase the amount of self love you feel.
Unschooling is described as a form of home-schooling and experiential learning, and I could not agree more.
My efforts may be a small drop in the bucket of Big Beauty, but it only takes a 100 conscious women to create a ripple effect of radiance around the world.
A ripple of self-aware, self actualized, well-informed and self-sourced women who feel comfortable and confident in their own skin.
Who have activated their powers of imagination and who have energetic mastery within their own fingers, eyes and cells.
A 100 women of all ages who sing the song of their season, not the number of revolutions around the sun.
A 100 women that light the way for another 100 women, and so on, and so on.
Are you one of the first 100 to help change the world?
