It's difficult to log onto social media or even talk to a friend without hearing about the pandemic that is currently sweeping the world. While staying informed is great, the mass hysteria and panic can seep into our bodies, creating stress.
Stress leads to inflammation, which causes our immune system to weaken.
You already know this. You can feel it in your body when you're tense and soaking in everyone else's emotions.
Yet, it's difficult to shut off social media because we want to make sure our loved ones are okay and we're staying knowledgeable about the state of the world. It also helps pass the time, especially since so many of us are in isolation right now.
Our bodies function as a part of our subconscious, which stores pain and trauma so the rest of our conscious body can function without constant triggers. Ideally, this gives us more energy to survive.
Let's not put our subconscious into overload.
